A CP Rail train was involved in a collision with debris on the tracks near Sparwood earlier this year.
According to a daily notification report from the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, CP Rail reported on July 12 that on March 31 a west-bound train near Sparwood struck a boulder that had fallen onto the tracks.
The collision, which took place at mile 12 of the Cranbrook subdivision resulted in damage to the front of the lead unit (unit CP 8885), but no derailment, leaks or injuries.
There was no detail on delays or track closure as a result of the incident, and CP Rail declined to elaborate.
