Fernie Fire Rescue responded to an accidental shop fire on Fifth Avenue on the night of Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

At approximately 10 p.m. on May 5, Fernie firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire. After arriving on scene, the firefighters were able to ascertain that a shed or workshop was fully up in flames.

Sixteen firefighters and four response vehicles responded to the fire and thanks to their quick thinking and fast actions, the fire was quickly brought under control and fully extinguished. Although a neighbouring boat sustained some damage due to the heat of the flames, no other structures were impacted and all residents and neighbours are safe.

After a conversation with the homeowner, Fernie Fire Rescue identified that the fire was accidental.
