Fernie Nordic Racers athlete, Wes Robinson-Shaw, 14, has qualified for the upcoming BC Winter Games to be held in Fort St. John this coming February.

After a strong podium finish at last weekend’s BC Winter Games Trials at the Teck Kootenay Cup in Rossland, Wes will be joining other Kootenay skiers from Nelson, Rossland, Kimberley and Invermere to compete in nordic ski events in Fort St. John.

The Fernie Nordic Racers train year round and so far, it’s been a tough start to winter training with the lack of snow. As always, Coaches Jeff Williams, Naomi Lentz and Johnny Shaw have been totally committed to getting the team ‘on the snow’ wherever! Thanks to organizations such as Fernie Alpine Resort, who allowed the team to train at the base of the ski hill and Kimberley Nordic for early season training on their course plus competing at the Alberta Cup, Canmore, in early December, Wes was able to keep the momentum going to succeed in Rossland. Congratulations Wes!
