Water levels continue to recede and the ponding issues in the Annex have dissipated as a result of the river level dropping and the pumping that's currently underway from the stormwater system directly into the river.
James White Park, the Annex Park and Dogwood Park remain closed at this time as they are unsafe due to the erosion of sections of the trail system and the debris that is being exposed as the water level recedes.
The Fernie Transfer Station, located at 6000 Highway 3 across from Bremner Road, has reopened today under their regular operating hours. 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 4pm Saturday and Sundays (closed statutory holidays).
The Reception Centre at the Fernie Curling Club will remain open until early afternoon with information posted on door to keep evacuees up to date on the situation.
