Hundreds of locals and visitors celebrating this New Year’s Eve with a bang, making their way to the base of Fernie Alpine Resort’s Might Moose slope for not only fireworks but sledding and night skiing as well.

“What a great New Year’s celebration!” Matt Mosteller Senior Vice President, Marking & Resort Experience said. “We were so excited for the incredible turn out, as it truly shared the spirit of Fernie.”

Dodging children on sleds, firework enthusiasts gathered for 9 p.m. fireworks that light up the night ski.

The City of Fernie and the Resort Municipality Initiative, Tourism Fernie, the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) and the Fernie Alpine Ski Team donated funds for the fireworks.

“The event built on the foundation of collaboration and community celebration/spirit for all in the Elk Valley to enjoy,” noted Mosteller. “We have so much in our community to be thankful and grateful for.”
