There were no injuries reported from a housefire that broke out in Hosmer on Saturday.

The fire, which was called in at around 6pm on November 12, was contained and put out by five apparatus and five firefighters who responded to the call.

Elk Valley and South Country Rural Fire and Rescue Chief Michael Hockley said that “the homeowner did a good job of knocking down the flames until our team arrived and we remained on scene until all the hot spots were fully extinguished and cooled.”

According to the initial investigation into the fire, it is believed to have began in an exterior wood burning unit. The fire is not being regarded as suspicious.

The one house involved in the incident was able to be saved without extensive damage, and will be able to be repaired.
