Nominations open for Fernie business awards

The annual event is coming up on October 21

The 2022 Fernie Business Excellence Awards are coming up fast, with nominations open as of August 17.

“This is hands-down our favourite event of the year where we get to celebrate outstanding achievement within our business and non-profit community here in Fernie,” said Fernie Chamber of Commerce executive director Brad Parsell.

“Businesses in Fernie continue to endure challenges around things like the increasing cost of doing business and an unprecedented worker shortage, so its nice to be able to step back and applaud all the effort these organizations put in to making Fernie an awesome place to live and visit.”

Nominations for the 2022 awards are open from August 17 to September 2, with the award ceremony to take place on October 21 at the Rusty Edge.

There are 12 categories for 2022: Citizen of the Year, Community Group of the Year, New Business of the Year, Community Tourism Achievement, Employer of the Year, Environmental Sustainability Award, Businessperson of the Year, Outstanding Customer Service, Business Innovation Award, Chamber Business Legacy Award, Fernie Business of the Year, and the People’s Choice Award.

Winners in most categories are selected by an independent panel of judges from outside the Fernie area, with the exception of the Citizen of the Year and the Chamber Legacy Award, which are chosen by the Fernie Chamber board of directors.

Locals wanting to nominate a business, or become a sponsor are encouraged to reach out to the Fernie Chamber.
