A Nelson man flying the banner for democracy stopped his bike in the Elk Valley today on his way to Ottawa.

Garrett Hippy is pedaling 4,036 km in less than 60 days, talking to people about supporting a government of direct democracy in Canada.

He is dropping off petitions for people to sign along the way, inviting those in support of direct democracy to sign it.

“So far, everyone I have talked to has been in support of it,” he said.

He has organised a pro democracy rally in Ottawa for September 15.
