A driver walked away uninjured after a road rage incident that caused his car to roll and fall into Michel Creek.

The incident occurred on Oct. 7 around 6:51 p.m. near Corbin Road, Sparwood, and saw the offending vehicle leave the scene without stopping.

“Elk Valley RCMPolice is searching for the driver of a vehicle who was involved in a road rage incident that happened on October 07, 2022 near Corbin Road, Sparwood, B.C,” said Cst. Debra Katerenchuk of the Elk Valley RCMP.

The incident involved a Ford Focus with an Alberta plate and a lifted white Dodge Ram with an unknown plate.

“Police were told that a driver of the Ford Focus was travelling East on Hwy 3, near the mine just East of Sparwood, when he passed a white Dodge Ram truck,” Katerenchuk said.

“After the driver passed the Dodge Ram, the Ram tailgated him, and flicked his light bar at him. When the driver of the Ford Focus approached the passing lane a few kilometres East, the Ram sped up, rear-ended the Ford Focus and continued to push his car.”

“The driver of Ford Focus tried to correct, but was pushed across the highway, over the ledge into the river. The driver suspected he rolled two to three times,” she said. The Dodge Ram continued eastbound without stopping.

Katerenchuk said a Good Samaritan came across the incident and helped the driver of the Ford Focus, who did not sustain any injuries.

The Dodge Ram truck is described as having a lift kit, red rimmed large wheels that stuck out of the frame, and a 3’ light bar in the cattle guard front bumper.

“Elk Valley RCMPolice are asking the driver of white Dodge Ram to come forward and provide details of what took place to the Lead Investigator.”

As of two days ago (from Oct. 13), the vehicle was still in Michel Creek.
