Santa Claus and the Elkford Fire Department will be traversing Elkford on Wednesday (Dec. 21) to bring Christmas cheer and collect donations for the food bank.

A Facebook post from the District of Elkford says to watch for Santa and the firefighters on Dec. 21 between 6 and 8 p.m.

“Breaking news from the North Pole: Santa Claus is coming to town!” the post reads in all caps.

“We have received special news from Santa’s workshop that he will start his trek around Elkford in the fire truck at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21. This gives Santa plenty of time to make his way around Elkford and get home to his workshop to prepare for his biggest night of the year!”

It says that Santa and his helpers in the fire department will be accepting cash donations and grocery vouchers for the Elkford Food Bank, but notes that the Elkford Food Bank is not currently accepting food donations, so non-perishable goods will be donated to the next closest Elk Valley food bank.

Printed copies of Santa’s 2022 route will be at District of Elkford facilities and the Kootenay Market.

A digital copy of the map can also be found at the District of Elkford website.
