The second year of Sparwood’s ‘Culture on the Lawn’ has been going well according to Kim Pryhitko of the Sparwood Museum.
The fourth installment of the event for this year was hosted at the museum on Friday (July 22).
“We had another successful Culture On The Lawn here at the museum on Friday,” Pryhitko said.
The event featured renowned local artist Monica Beranek and two of her students, Hailey Walsh and Emmery Martin. Entertainment was provided by local musician Roger Fairhurst.
The outdoor event was moved inside the museum when it began to rain, Pryhitko said.
The events come along with mini-exhibits in the museum, and this Friday there was an exhibit on a Michel-Natal reunion from 2000 that attracted about 1,000 people, according to Pryhitko.
“We hope that people enjoy the Culture on the Lawn, and maybe some people come in and enjoy the little mini exhibit, because it’s new every Friday, and the rest of the museum.”
Pryhitko said they surpassed attendance expectations at the kick off of this year’s events at the beginning of July.
“We way surpassed it, we were pleasantly surprised. It was wonderful,” she said.
“We broke the record on the very first one.”
The events run on Fridays until early September from 4 to 7 p.m. in the evenings.
“It’s been going really well.”
Next week’s Culture on the Lawn will feature local artist Paullette Rosler.
