Sparwood has set the calendar for its 2023 regular council meetings, with two meetings per month for almost every month of the year.
Two meetings have been cancelled already as of the November 15 council meeting, with councillors approving a staff proposal to cancel the January 3 meeting due to it being a slow time of year for proceedings and because there is a meeting scheduled for December 20. The district has traditionally cancelled this meeting.
The September 19 meeting was also cancelled ahead of time, as it fell during the annual Union of British Columbia Municipalities (UBCM) conference, which many councillors will be expected to attend in person, meaning they would be unable to achieve a quorum.
Councillors unanimously approved cancelling the September 19 meeting, with the added proviso that they could set up a special meeting for September 26 if there is a lot going on at that time of year.
The annual schedule, which must be set in place before the end of the previous year, is available on the District of Sparwood website.
