It was a packed house full of backcountry enthusiasts at Fernie Golf and Country Club on Monday night as the Canadian Avalanche Centre gave a free presentation on backcountry safety and awareness.
Forecasters from the CAC in Revelstoke came to Fernie to talk about avalanche character, choosing terrain, reading the public avalanche forecast and decision making in the backcountry.
There were also door prizes, courtesy of Teck, including a transceiver, shovel, probe and backpack.
