Timber Chair to be open for one day on Sept. 3

This will be the second and last time the chair opens this summer season

Fernie Alpine Resort’s (FAR) Timber Chair will be open again for one more day this summer on Saturday (Sept. 3).

An email from Karen Pepper of FAR says the chair will be open for sightseeing and hiking that day only.

This will be the second time the Timber Chair has opened to the public for a day in the 2022 season, following three previous seasons of the chair being closed for in summers. The first day-opening of the season was on July 30.

The lift hours on Sept. 3 will be 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Lost Boys Café will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with cold drinks and light snacks available.

Regular sightseeing lift ticket rates will be in effect, with summer season passes to be accepted at the lift.

Limited hiking trails will be available, and include Lost Boys (observation deck closed), Lily Loop, Pika Pass, Megasaurus, and Bike Thief.

All the other Timber-side hiking trails will be closed to the public including Polar Peak.

“Please respect all closures,” reads Pepper’s email.

Bikes will not be allowed on the Timber Chair. The Elk Chair is open for mountain biking from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

“We hope you enjoy your day on the Timber Side!”
