The District of Sparwood is hosting its annual Winter Festival on Feb. 16 and 17.

Family friendly activities and events will be stationed around town, including face painting, children’s crafts and carnival games, and locals will be able to gather by the newly-installed fire pits in Centennial Plaza for hot chocolate, coffee and s’mores.

There will be a glow-in-the-dark skate at the arena, with neon or white attire encouraged.

Sparwood Lions club will host a community barbeque, and Music Matt and Smilie Kylie will perform live in the plaza.

This is the second major community event hosted in the plaza since its grand-reopening last year.

“This event will be sure to warm up the long winter days. Whether you are interested in lighting up the arena during glow skate or warming up by the fire pit in Centennial Plaza, we encourage you to come celebrate with us,” stated Mayor David Wilks.

A full schedule with dates and times will be announced at a later date.
