April 1, 1930 - April 16, 2019
It is with great sorrow that the family of Anna Ungaro announces her passing on April 16, 2019 at the Elk Valley Hospital in Fernie, B C. Anna was 89 years old and just two weeks prior to her passing was dancing in the hospital halls on her 89th Birthday.
Anna was born in Piane Crati, Cosenza, Italy on April 1, 1930. She came to Canada at age 24, after marrying her husband Emilio in Italy. They settled in Natal, B.C., raising their children Rosanne Anselmo, Marcella (March) Ungaro, Robert Ungaro, and Stella Hutchinson, later relocating to Fernie, in 1970.
Anna was dedicated to her husband Emilio of 49 years (predeceased May 2003) as well as her children, 35 grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved gardening, knitting, crafting, cooking, going for walks, and spending time with family and loved all the children. Mom also mentioned all the friends she met; she spoke of you many times and how much you all touched her life.
We would like to thank Dr Shelley Forrest, Dr Cain, and the Nurses and Home Care for the great care given to Mom these past few months.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, May 3rd at the Holy Family Parish at 11 am.
