MARASCO:
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Assunta Marasco. Assunta passed away quietly at the Elk Valley Hospital, November 16, 2011 at the age of 85 years.
Assunta was born in Aprigliano, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1953, she married her soulmate, Luigi Marasco, completing her family with the arrival of their first daughter Anne Marie, followed a few years later by their second daughter Polyana.
A devout Catholic, Assunta was an active member of her church and the Catholic Women’s League. A friend and mother figure to many, Assunta was always willing to listen and gently give advice. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Left to mourn her passing is her daughter and son-in-law, Polyana and Paul Natale of Bolton, Ontario, her son-in-law Paul O’Gorman of Calgary, and her precious grandchildren, Sebastian and Noelle Natale and Trevor O’Gorman. Assunta was predeceased in 2007 her beloved husband Luigi and in 2009, by her beautiful daughter Ann Marie O’Gorman. She is also predeceased by her parents and 4 of her siblings as well as many other extended family members.
Prayers were held on Friday, November 18, 2011 at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, November 19th with Father Bart van Roijen, Celebrant. Interment followed at Queen’s Park Cemetery in Calgary, Alberta. Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services Ltd.
