David Joseph Ono, beloved husband to Ronada Ferguson of Elkford, died suddenly on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the age of 61 years.

David was born in Toronto, Ontario on September 29, 1949 to parents Tatsuo and Mitsu Ono. He worked as a Light Duty Mechanic at Fording River Coal Operations until his retirement in late March 2010. Together David and Ronada spent their summer weekends traveling to the Baynes Lake Farmer’s Market and the Fernie Mountain Market where they sold their wares and enjoyed visiting with familiar friends and new faces.

Besides his wife Ronada, David will also be dearly missed by his brothers: Christopher and Tipton (Carmen), sisters Myra Stites and Carol Minotti, 5 nieces: Karen, Virginia, Jessamine, Lisa and Felicia (Ryan), and 3 nephews: David, Thor and Jove as well as great nephews Ben and Connor, and great nieces Briana, Grace and Madison. Also left to mourn his passing is his sister-in-law Ramona (Ronald) with their son Curtis and Ronada’s step-mother, Mary Ferguson.

A Memorial Service will be held in Elkford at the United Steelworkers of America Union Hall, 12 Water St. on Wednesday, August 10th with Kay Bottolfson officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Diabetes Assoc., the BC Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Elkford Food Bank. Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services Ltd.
