It is with heavy hearts that the family of Betty announces her passing. She quietly passed away on Wednesday June 13th at the Elk Valley Hospital with her family by her side. Betty was born on February 12th, 1922 in Guiwelsklook, South Africa. She married the love of her life, Smartryk Naude in 1941 together they raised their 5 children, Chris, Vilna, Vick, Kobus and Elize.
Betty moved to Fernie 1995 at the age of 73 after the passing of her husband and has been a long time resident ever since. She learned English, built a strong religious family and spent many hours volunteering her time at the Salvation Army until the age of 92. Betty was kind, loving and generous, she always had a smile on her face and love in her heart. She loved to spend time with her family, listen to music, knit and write letters. Betty was known for her feistiness and good sense of humour. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.
Betty is predeceased by her husband Smartryk and eldest son Chris. She is survived by her 4 children (Vilna, Vick, Kobus, Elize), 13 Grandchildren (Elize, Dirk, Hendrik, Smartryk, Ester, Tertia, Karen, Rene, Amanda, Boetie, Letitia, Douw and Alex), 26 great grandchildren, and 15 great great grandchildren.
