1928-2020 ~ Harold passed away at Ridge Meadows Hospital on October 8, 2020 after a short illness and coping with dementia.
He was predeceased by his first wife Winnie, his siblings Frank, Shirley and Ruth, and his step-grandson Dion. He is survived by his partner of 20 years Christine, his children Lynn (Neil), Don (Evelyn), Steve, Harold (Julianne), his grandson Cody and step- grandsons Andrew and Christopher and their families.
He was born in Natal, BC. He grew up on a ranch in the Sparwood area, and then joined the military at the age of 17.
He was deployed throughout Canada and overseas as a flight engineer, with his most memorable adventures with the 442 Squadron in Comox.
Following his retirement from the RCAF as a Flt. Lieutenant, he took up the family business as a hunting guide in the Rocky Mountains in BC and Alberta.
As part of his many sporting accomplishments he won a Bronze Medal for Boxing at the Pan-Am Games as a young man, and was a member of the BC Senior's Swim Team.
He was instrumental in helping to found the Elkford Air Cadets Sqn. As a lifetime member he was very involved with the Sparwood Legion Branch 81 and served in many offices including President.
An Avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting, fishing, travelling and visiting his relatives in Australia and Britain. He was fond of telling stories, drafting and building new additions to the house, holding BBQ's at the ranch, and beating everyone at darts.
