On Saturday, July 16 2022, Jean Norgate, the beloved wife of the late Francis Norgate, passed away peacefully at 3:43 pm surrounded by family at the Elk Valley Hospital at the age of 83. She was born in Vita, MB on June 7, 1939.
Jean was predeceased by her husband, Francis, in 2007. She is survived by her children, Wendy (Thomas) Maartman, Carl (Jennifer) Norgate, and Jamie (Colleen) Norgate; grandchildren, Scott (Gillesa) Maartman, Maygen (Donovan) Maartman, Amber Maartman, Kayla (Aidan) Norgate, Austin (Hayley) Norgate, Levi Norgate, Krista (Evan) Skoretz, Dakota (Clinton) Creguer-Norgate, Andrew (Britney) Creguer-Norgate, and Kelsey (Cailyn) Creguer-Norgate. Jean is also survived by her sisters Ruth and Debi, brothers Bill and Alan, and many nieces and nephews.
Francis and Jean moved to Elkford, BC in 1972 with their 3 children. They made Elkford their home and created many friendships over the years. In her spare time Jean loved to sew, enjoyed going for coffee with the ladies, and loved playing darts with her many friends at the 50+ Club where she won many tournaments. She was also involved with the Search and Rescue Team in Elkford. Above all, Jean loved her family the most. She enjoyed having all her children and grandchildren over for perogies, garlic buns, garlic sausage, Caesar salad - anything with garlic in it. Jean loved to dance whenever there was music and she played the guitar and mandolin with her sister, Ruth. She will be missed by many relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank the Elk Valley Hospital staff for the care and compassion they have given to our beloved Baba.
There will be no formal service, by Jean's request. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
