FAIRBURN:

Jeff Fairburn passed away at the Sparwood Health Centre on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the age of 70 years.

Jeff will be dearly missed by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years, Maureen Fairburn, his daughter Sharon (Barry) Glover, his son Craig Fairburn, and his grandchildren Tyrone and Hailey Glover. He was predeceased by the family pet Mocha, his favorite Golden Retriever.

Jeffrey William Fairburn was born in Yorkshire, England on January 15, 1940. From the age of 15 Jeff worked in the coal mines in England. At the age of 19 he joined the British Army and went into the Paratroopers, known as “Paras”. He travelled lots of the world in the six years he was in the Army. It was a very proud time for him. Following his stint with the Army Jeff returned to the coal mines until 1971 when he immigrated to Canada, moving to Grand Cache before settling in Sparwood.

Jeff enjoyed fishing and spending holidays in Las Vegas. Above all else, Jeff cherished time spent with his family. He loved them all unconditionally; he was their protector and a mentor to his grandchildren. He was their best friend. The world has lost a very beautiful man, with a world of knowledge. We love you!

Funeral Services were held on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Roger Still conducting. Interment followed at the Rivercrest Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Cherished Memories Funeral Services Ltd.
