KOOP:

John Herbert Koop passed away at the Sparwood Health Centre on January 27, 2014. Beloved husband of Lori Koop. Loving father of Mark Koop and Carmen Linderman (Troy). Cherished grandfather of Jesse and Lane. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Susie Koop, sister Irma Paul and brother-in-law Abe Koop. John was born on March 28, 1949 in Coaldale, AB. He was raised in Vauxhall, AB and worked on the family farm which he bought from his dad in 1976. When John and Lori left Vauxhall, they moved to Lethbridge where John pursued a career in Real Estate. They then made the big move to Whitehorse, Yukon where he was owner of 2 ore trucks hauling ore from the mine in Faro to the port in Skagway, Alaska. While there he fell in love with the Yukon and its beauty. From there they moved to Salmon Arm, BC and then Sparwood, BC where he purchased Elk Valley Mobile Home Park and resided there until his passing. Along his journey in life, there was never a dull moment. He met and made many friends and many business acquaintances. Everybody knew “Big John”. He had a big heart and will be dearly missed. A memorial service was held at Cherished Memories Funeral Services in Fernie on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 1 pm.
