Eighty-two year old Luchia “Lucy” Donald passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 5, 2011, Lucy was predeceased by parents Guiseppe and Maria Tombosso, her husband Bill Cytko, her sister Rose Saad, and grandsons Dwaine Fraser and Michael Mauro.

Luchia Tombosso was born in Middletown, BC on September 3, 1928; the first of her family to be born in Canada. In 1946 she married Bill Cytko, giving birth to children Sharon, Maryanne, Bill, Joanne and John. Twenty-one years later, in 1967, Lucy was suddenly widowed when Bill was killed in the 1967 Balmer North Mine Disaster. Love found Lucy once again, and in 1969 she married Bill Donald, completing her family with the arrival of daughter Denise. The greatest joy in Lucy’s life was her family. Every member of her family felt cherished and loved by Mama and Nona. She will be lovingly remembered for her love and compassion along with her quick wit.

Lucy is survived by her beloved husband Bill, daughters Sharon (Maurice) Fraser, Maryanne Mauro, Joanne (Wesley) Chatterson and Denise (Quentin) Dixson, sons Bill (Kathy) Cytko and John (Barbara) Cytko, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, her sister Angelina Lant, 3 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Prayer Service was held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Friday, January 7th with Father Bart van Roinen, Celebrant.
