FIERRO:

On Monday, January 23, 2012, with loved ones at his bedside, Luigi Fierro was quietly summoned to his eternal rest, reunited once again with his beloved Rosa. He was 87 years old.

Luigi was born January 3, 1925 in Prata, Avellino, Italy to parents Antonio and Assunta Fierro. At the age of just 17 he joined the Italian Navy, serving from 1942-1947. Later, in search of a new and better life, Luigi immigrated to Canada in 1957, bringing his family to join him in 1960. Luigi and Rosa encouraged their children to embrace the Canadian lifestyle, while also remaining true to their Italian heritage. A devoutly Catholic family, Luigi and Rosa raised their children with nurturing and loving hearts. Luigi was passionate about gardening and fishing, and was also a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. Luigi will always be remembered for his friendly smile, his hats, and of course for his famous spaghetti and homemade pizza! He has left his family with a lasting legacy to be shared with future generations.

Luigi was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Ralph and his loving wife Rosa. He is survived by his children: Joseph (Kathleen) Colucci of Calgary, AB, Anna (Dennis) Reghenas of Sparwood, BC, Tina (Gordon) Foisy of Didsbury, AB, Carm (Darren) Andres of Red Deer, AB, and Rita Fierro of Lethbridge, AB; 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
