Richard (Dick) Bryant passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2020, at the age of 88, with family and friends at his side. Dick was born and raised in Fernie. He married the love of his life, Agnes Auguson, on August 8, 1953 and together they raised three children, Debbie, Barb and Bill. Dick was a great outdoorsman, both an avid hunter and fisherman, and he enjoyed telling the stories of his adventures as much as his friends of all ages enjoyed hearing them. He was a jack of all trades and could accomplish anything that he set his mind to. He had a passion for tinkering and always had a project on the go, often modifying equipment and converting things around the house to make them work better -- he seldom bought an item that he couldn't improve! His employment over the years included Coal Creek Mine both as a miner and pipefitter's helper; Galloway Lumber Company as woods superintendent; Nohels Exploration as an equipment and cat operator; and Harmer Ridge for Kaiser/Westar, first as a miner and then as a heavy duty mechanic.
Dick is survived by his three children, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren and cousins.
Dick was fortunate to have a wonderful caregiver, Mina, for the last 5 years and the family is very grateful to her. The family also wants to thank the palliative home care nurses, the home support workers, and all the friends that visited and phoned.
An informal gathering for family and friends will be held at Cherished Memories "Serenity Chapel" (891 - 4th Ave) on Saturday, March 14, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Salvation Army or ALS Society.
