July 7, 1943 - May 30, 2024

In loving memory ~

Robert Henry Andres died peacefully after a courageous battle with heart failure on May 30, 2024, in Sparwood, BC. He was born on July 7, 1943 in Herbert, SK.

Robert was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Marion in 2016. He is survived by their children; son Dwayne (Pat) with grandchild Jacob, and daughter Cammie Andres, his sister Norma (Dave) Cannon, nieces Brenda (Stu) Dunn, Theresa (Ken) Crowther, and Amber Cannon, nephews Ron (Susan) Gering, Mike (Ladine) Gering, and Robin (Jen) Cannon with their families, and adopted sister Donna (Howard) Beich with their family. Also left to mourn his passing are numerous great nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many wonderful friends. Robert was also predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Reg Gering, and his great nephew Chandler.

Robert and Marion married in Herbert in 1965. The two of them worked towards technical trades; Rob went to SAIT for mechanics in Calgary, AB and Marion forwarded her education as a beautician. They both finished their apprentices in Brooks, AB. Soon afterwards, the couple welcomed children Dwayne and Cammie, completing their family. In 1970, with many job opportunities, they decided Sparwood was the community where they wanted to raise their children. Rob began his mining career as a light duty mechanic, moving to parts man, and then as a foreman for shovels and drills, and in 2010 retired from Teck Coal as a heavy-duty mechanic.

Rob was a true outdoorsman, enjoying his time in mother nature's playground; hunting, fishing, hiking, quadding, biking, boating, and camping. He made his last fishing trip to Prince Rupert in 2018 and enjoyed a crab at first catch. Winter months were spent watching curling tournaments on tv, reading an enjoyable book, feeding the several species of birds in his backyard, sausage making, and cooking a delicious meal to share with family and friends.

The Andres family would like to thank all the doctors, healthcare professionals and friends who fought this journey with Robert. You are all very much thought of by us, and your earnest efforts during a challenging time in our lives.

A funeral service will be held at the Herbert Mennonite Church with burial to follow at the Herbert Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Lilac Terrace greatly appreciated.
