Trick-or-treaters headed over Rocky Mountain Village on Halloween to visit with the residents and fill their bags with candy.
Recreation therapist Shelley Moulton said they welcomed just over 100 children over the course of the day. Young preschoolers stopped by in the afternoon and older school-aged children visited in the evening.
“The kids and residents were smiling,” she said. “… [One resident] she said that seeing the kids puts her mind at rest. She just said she had a really good time.”
The event took place outside. Residents were outfitted with jackets, blankets and gloves, and the sunny afternoon weather provided some natural warmth. Moulton said staff liked the outdoor set-up so much that they might continue to host it there in future. Pre-pandemic it was held indoors, but it took place outside this year due to covid restrictions.
