40th Annual Tony Servello golf tournament

On August 12 the Fernie Golf Club hosted the tournament with 70 golfers

The Fernie Golf Club hosted the 40th Annual Tony Servello Seniors Open Golf Tournament on August 12 with over 70 golfers from as far as Cranbrook and Calgary to compete.

Every year the tournament is held in recognition of the contribution Tony Servello made to Fernie and the golf club with sponsors from the East Kootenay Community Credit Union, the Pro shop and Grounds golf club staff and Tim Horton’s, as well as his son Tony.

Closest to the string line (Hole 9): Ladies – Karen Lozza, Men – Claude Martin.

Longest Putt (Hole 18): Ladies – Kathy Pachara, Men – John McAulay.

For Low Net there were six flights, four flights of men and two flights of women.

Men’s flight of 55 to 64: 1st – Bruce Thrun, 2nd – Gord Goodman, 3rd – Phil Iddon.

Men’s flight of 65 to 70: 1st – Larry Cutts, 2nd – Bob Smith, 3rd – Jack Knooihuizen.

Men’s flight of 71 to 79: 1st – Brian Brownie, 2nd – Frank Abdou, 3rd – Glenn Jaeb.

Men’s flight of 80+: 1st – Orlan Weber, 2nd – Bruce Elson, 3rd – Nick George.

Women’s flight of 55 to 64: 1st – Pam Kent, 2nd – Kathy Pachara, 3rd – Eileen Thrun.
