Fernie and Kimberley cross country skiers compete in Whistler

Cross country teams from Kimberley and Fernie joined approximately 400 athletes who attended Teck BC Cup 2 at Whistler Olympic Park in mid-February.

“Participation over the weekend was impressive, with athletes of all ages coming from far and wide to race,” said Chief of Competition Jake Weaver. “Despite the serious competition, sportsmanship, camaraderie, and smiles were on continuous display during the two-day event. Special thanks go to the organizing committee and the many volunteers who provided a fun and memorable experience for everyone and to Teck Resources’ Catherine Adair, Manager, Community Development, who was on hand to award medals to our top finisher.”

Day 1 results for East Kootenay athletes

Mae Elson from Fernie Nordic was 3rd in U12 Girls. and Elianna Albert from Kimberley 12 16th.

Adelie Albert from Kimberley was 3rd in U14 Girls

Tate Elson from Fernie placed 23rd in U14 Boys.

Ella Fuller from Fernie was 1st in U16 Girls with Avafei Clark from Kimberley 2nd.

Louison Dubeif of Fernie was 1st in U18 Girls.

Kimberley’s Noah Glickman picked up a 12th place in U16 Boys while Cameron Etue of Fernie was 15th.

Koby Clark of Kimberley was 2nd in U18 Boys.

Wes Robinson-Shaw of Fernie was 1st in U20 Men

Day 2 results for East Kootenay athletes

Koby Clark from the Kimberley Nordic Club achieved a 2nd place finish in the U18 boys, while Noah Glickman from Kimberley was 3th in U16 Boys. Cameron Etue from Fernie was 18th in that race.

Mae Elson from the Fernie Nordic Club as 4th in U12 Girls and Elianna Albery of Kimberley was 18th.

Adelie Albert from Kimberley Nordic was 5th in U14 Girls And Tate Elson fro Fernie lace 21st in U14 Boys.

Ella Fuller from Fernie Nordic took 1st place in the U16 Girls, while Avafei Clark from Kimberley was third.

Louison Dubief was 1st in U18 Girls
