Fernie Curling Club hosted their first bonspiel in several years this past weekend. The Skip & Stones Bonspiel (Jan 26-28) had participation from 10 teams across the Elk Valley, including the competitive junior rink - Team Carson. The event was highly contested, with first place being decided in the final games and second and third place determined by the first tie-breaker rule (points for/against differential). In the end, Fernie Curling Club’s Team Foley were the champions, second place was won by Sparwood’s Team Mercereau and third place was claimed by Fernie’s Team Morgan.

There’s more curling in the schedule in coming weeks, the Sparwood Sweetheart Mixed Bonspiel is Feb 10-12 and the Griz Days curling funspiel is Friday, March 1. As well, Fernie Curling Club is hosting drop-in nights for non-members Friday February 16 and 23. More details on all events can be found at ferniecurling.com
