Last Friday at the Fernie Memorial Arena, the Ghostriders hosted their longtime rivals, the Kimberley Dynamiters. Despite being outshot almost two to one, Fernie came away with a 3-2 win.
Fernie’s game began with goals from Fernie’s Taylor Haggerty late in the first and early in the second. Following a goal from Fernie’s Lucas Desjarlais with just four and a half minutes left in the game, Kimberley would make a late charge, with Hayden Selin and Myles Hayne scoring their first goals of the season at a clutch time. Ultimately it would prove too little too late and Fernie came away with the win.
On Saturday, Frnie hosted Beaver Valley and won as well, 2 to 1.
Fernie is now tied with the Dynamiters at second place in the Eddie Mountain Division with eight wins and four losses.
Columbia Valley continues to lead the division, but has played two more games than either Fernie or Kimberley.
Fernie heads to Creston on Tuesday, then to Golden Friday and North Okanagan on Saturday.
